This report was written for the Office for Seniors to support the implementation of WHO’s programme in New Zealand.

This document summarises Age-friendly Cities and Communities: World experience and pointers for New Zealand. The report provides background research to support the implementation of the World Health Organization’s Age-friendly Cities and Communities (AFCC) programme in New Zealand.

The Auckland University of Technology Centre for Active Ageing was contracted by the Office for Seniors, Ministry of Social Development [Office for Seniors] to evaluate the process of implementing age-friendly approaches in Kāpiti Coast District, New Plymouth and Hamilton, also referred to as pilot sites.

The Age Friendly Fund Application Form 2025 is for councils and community organisations seeking funding for projects benefiting older people. The form helps applicants clearly outline their project’s purpose, planned activities, community impact, and budget. It includes eligibility criteria, funding conditions, submission requirements, and a checklist to ensure applications are complete and meet the required criteria.

The Age Friendly Fund Project Plan Template 2025 helps applicants clearly outline how they will deliver their age-friendly community project. It guides organisations through detailing project objectives, key activities, timelines, roles, responsibilities, and deliverables. This template ensures projects are well-organised, measurable, and effectively planned for successful implementation and evaluation.  Note: All applications for grants to the Age friendly Fund must include a project plan. 

The Age Friendly Fund Guidance 2025 outlines the process and criteria for applying for community grants from the Age Friendly Fund. The fund supports councils and community groups to create age-friendly plans and community projects that encourage older people's active participation. This document includes eligibility criteria, funding amounts, application steps, assessment guidelines, and key dates to help applicants successfully plan and submit their projects.
